What to expect on your first visit

"No perfect people allowed"

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at Parkside a great one!

We like to say there's "no perfect people allowed." This means we bring our messy, imperfect lives to church each week expecting God to show up as we pursue knowing Him together. Life's too short for religious pretense. We're more interested in reaching North County, the West, and the world one child and family at a time.

Whether you are brand new to this God / Church / Jesus thing or you have been following Him for a long time, Parkside is a great place to make friends and grow in your faith. Learn more about Parkside Church.

COVID options...

During this COVID season, we understand everyone has different needs and opinions. In order to bring the love and hope of Jesus to as many people as possible, we are offering 3 primary ways for people to experience a weekly gathering:

1.Sunday In Person:

Join us LIVE in person at Lifeway Church in Vista (1120 Highland Drive) at 4:30pm on Sundays. Experience community with socially-distanced outdoor worship, teaching, and discussion. Optional kids class for preschool to elementary-age kids. Now that the weather is turning cooler, we encourage you to dress warm and bring a blanket and your own chairs. And of course, BRING A SMILE UNDER YOUR MASK.

2.Sunday Online:

Join us online whenever it works best for you. Weekly sermon and worship video available here.

3.Family Church:

Join your family in discovering God's Word together using these family-friendly resources.

What to expect for our live service...

Except in the case of rain or other "extreme" weather (yeah, we know, we live in Southern California. We don't really understand "extreme" weather....), we will be meeting outside of Lifeway Church. For now, it will be dark and cold...and cozy. Bring a mask, bring a chair, bring a blanket, and come prepared for just a little bit of that community that we've all been missing. Families will sit in socially distanced groupings, but we expect that people will mingle and fellowship as they are comfortable before and after the service. If you feel more comfortable just sitting in your car and listening, we reserve the closest parking spaces for you.

HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?

In total, a Parkside service is about 70 minutes in length. Services begin with the Parkside band leading the church in music - song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of service is complete, one of our pastors will come out to share an encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus. Sometimes we offer the opportunity for small group discussion after the message.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Sunday's at Parkside are friendly, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest. We've got a laid back atmosphere where you can wear t-shirts, shorts, flip flops, or whatever you feel comfortable in! (But don't forget, we're meeting outside, so don't forget a jacket!)

WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?

During this Covid time, we are attempting to meet needs in a safe and respectful way. While we still feel unable to safely care for your babies and toddlers, if you are longing for a break from your preschool through elementary-aged kids, after we worship together, we are offering a simple but fun kids class where they will memorize a Bible verse, sing songs (and do a little dancing!), and learn a Bible story. The kids also usually meet outside, so make sure they have a sweatshirt or jacket to help them stay warm. We hope to get back to our more energetic and interactive kids ministry as soon as possible, but your child will still come home having learned God's Word in a fun way.

WHAT ABOUT YOUTH?

Parkside Youth is for students 6th-12th grade. We are passionate about training up and equipping the next generation to change the world. During this Covid time, Parkside students meet on Zoom on Fridays at 6:30pm. On Sundays, we encourage them to sit with their families. Our teaching team tries to communicate God's truths in engaging ways that appeal to all ages.
